U.S. rushing into sanctioning Iran’s Central Bank by blacklisting its chief

Iran, May 17, 2018 - The U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted Valiollah Seif, chief of the Iranian regime’s Central Bank, accelerating the process of sanctioning the Central Bank itself. This is the first case the U.S. targets an Iranian regime financial entity in another country, such as Iraq, for supporting the mullahs’ terrorism.
Based on comments heard after Washington exited the Iran nuclear deal, the Central Bank would be blacklisted after 180 days. Recent developments, however, indicate any contracts with Seif’s signature face a very damning hurdle of sanctions.
U.S. President Donald Trump has also issued an executive order to his secretaries of State, Treasury and Energy saying the world’s oil output is adequate enough to provide for the decrease after Iran’s oil sector is sanctioned.
A slate of different European companies accelerated their distancing from the Iranian regime following these two important developments. These turning points also signal the dire situation Tehran has found itself in on the international stage.
This regime has based its very existences on two pillars of domestic crackdown and exporting terrorism/fueling crises and warmongering abroad. As a result, axing money laundering sources for the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Quds Force, Lebanese Hezbollah chief Hassan Nassrallah and Syrian dictator Bashar Assad acts as a severe blow to one of the mullahs’ main building blocks.
For decades now the Iranian Resistance, seeking the Iranian people’s demand to have this regime overthrown, has long sought full oil sanctions and an end to all economic relations with the religious fascism ruling Iran.
The Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), of which the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) is the main member of, has since day one called for oil sanctions and considered any trade, economic and political support for the mullahs’ regime, and any measures strengthening those who have executed and massacred the Iranian people, as steps further emboldening the Iranian regime in its warmongering, exporting fundamentalism and terrorism on one hand, while quelling demonstrations and the people’s right to stage protests and demonstrations on the other.
As we speak, the international community must take steps in line with the demands expressed by the Iranian people. We must take into consideration how the main element making this acceleration in developments against Tehran possible is the advances made by the Iranian people’s freedom movement and continuing protests across the country, proving to the world how the Iranian people want nothing but overthrowing the mullahs’ regime and any support to this body is condemned in the eyes of the Iranian people.
